Blackstone Security Group Inc. ("Blackstone," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through blackstone-ab.ca (the "Site"), how we use and protect it, and the choices you have.

We handle personal information in accordance with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and, where applicable — including where personal information is transferred across provincial or national borders — Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

By using our Site, contacting us, or providing your information to us, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Who is responsible for your information

Blackstone Security Group Inc. is responsible for the personal information under its control. We have designated a Privacy Officer who is accountable for our compliance with this policy and with applicable privacy legislation. If you have any questions about this policy or how your information is handled, you can reach our Privacy Officer using the details in Section 16.

2. What personal information we collect

We only collect personal information that we need. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:

Contact details you provide through forms or email — such as your name, email address, phone number, organization, and any message content.
Business or project details you choose to share when making an enquiry or requesting a quote.
Intake and application information submitted through a service intake process, where the nature of the engagement requires it.
Correspondence — records of messages and communications between you and us.
Technical and usage information collected automatically when you visit the Site, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits.
Cookie and analytics data — see Section 7.

We do not knowingly collect more sensitive information (such as government identifiers) unless it is necessary for a specific service, and only with your consent.

3. How we collect your information

We collect personal information:

Directly from you, when you complete a form, contact us, request a quote, or complete an intake process.
Automatically, through cookies and similar technologies as you use the Site.
From service providers who help us operate the Site and our business, including our website host and analytics tools.

Where we collect personal information in the course of delivering investigative services, we may also collect it from other sources, as described in Section 5.

4. Why we collect and use your information

We use personal information for the following purposes:

To respond to your enquiries and provide the information or services you request.
To assess enquiries, prepare quotes, and manage service engagements.
To operate, maintain, and improve the Site and our services.
To communicate with you about your requests, and — where you have opted in — to send updates or marketing communications.
To keep our Site secure and prevent fraud or misuse.
To meet our legal, regulatory, licensing, and accounting obligations, including those under Alberta's Security Services and Investigators Act.

We will not use your information for a new purpose that is unrelated to the above without first obtaining your consent, unless permitted or required by law.

5. Investigative and security services

Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act permits an organization to collect, use, and disclose personal information without consent in specific circumstances, including where the collection is reasonable for an investigation or a legal proceeding, and where obtaining consent would compromise the availability or accuracy of the information.

Where Blackstone is engaged to provide investigative services, or where personal information is collected in the course of a security deployment — including incident documentation and reporting — we may rely on these provisions. In those circumstances, we collect and use only the personal information that is reasonable for the purpose of the engagement, retain it in accordance with Section 11, and handle it under the confidentiality obligations that govern our investigative work.

This section does not apply to information you submit through the Site as a prospective client. That information is handled under Sections 2 through 4.

6. Consent

We collect, use, and disclose your personal information with your consent, which may be express or implied depending on the sensitivity of the information and the circumstances. For example, submitting a contact form implies consent to us using your details to respond to you. For marketing emails, we rely on your express opt-in consent, consistent with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. To withdraw consent, contact us using the details below. Withdrawing consent may limit our ability to provide certain services. Every marketing email we send also includes an unsubscribe link.

Consent does not apply where personal information is collected, used, or disclosed under the circumstances described in Section 5, or where collection without consent is otherwise authorized or required by law.

7. Cookies and analytics

Our Site is built and hosted on Wix. Wix sets essential cookies required for the Site to function, and provides built-in analytics that collect aggregated statistics about Site traffic and usage, including information such as your IP address and browsing activity. 8. How we share your information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only as needed to operate our business and provide our services, including with:

Service providers and processors who perform functions on our behalf — including our website hosting platform (Wix), analytics providers, and email tools. These providers are only permitted to use your information to perform services for us.
Legal and regulatory authorities, when required by law, court order, or to protect our legal rights, or as authorized under Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act.
A successor entity, in connection with a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

9. Storage of information outside Canada

Our Site is hosted on Wix, and some of our service providers may store or process your personal information on servers located outside Canada, including in the United States and other countries. When personal information is stored in another country, it is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to that country's courts, law enforcement, and regulatory authorities. We take reasonable steps to ensure our providers protect your information to a comparable standard. By using the Site, you acknowledge that your information may be processed outside Canada. You may contact our Privacy Officer for more information about our providers and their data-handling practices.

10. How we protect your information

We use reasonable physical, organizational, and technical safeguards to protect your personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. While we work to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Information submitted through a web form is not a secure channel. Do not submit confidential or sensitive information through the Site unless we have specifically requested it as part of an intake process.

11. How long we keep your information

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, to maintain our business records, and to meet legal, tax, licensing, or regulatory requirements. Where personal information has been used to make a decision about an individual, we retain it for at least one year after using it, as required by Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

12. Your rights

Subject to certain legal exceptions, you have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you and receive an account of how it has been used and to whom it has been disclosed.
Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
Withdraw consent to our continued use of your information, as described in Section 6.

To exercise any of these rights, contact our Privacy Officer using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law, which under Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act is generally 45 days.

Certain exceptions apply. We may refuse access where the information is protected by solicitor-client privilege, where disclosure would reveal personal information about another individual, where the information was collected for an investigation or legal proceeding, or where another exception under applicable law applies. Where we refuse, we will tell you why and inform you of your right to complain.

13. Links to other websites

Our Site may contain links to third-party websites or services that we do not operate or control. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those sites, and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any website you visit.

14. Children's privacy

Our Site and services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental or guardian consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

15. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
